Anemometer sensors, wind speed sensor, and wind direction sensors measure wind speed and direction. Different technologies can be used for wind sensor. These include mechanical anemometers, ultrasonic anemometers, and hot wire anemometers.
People often use these three types of wind sensors together to get complete wind data. Many industries use them in weather stations, aviation, oceanography, environmental monitoring, and agriculture.
There are usually three or four cups, mounted symmetrically on a horizontal axis. The cup usually has a round or cone shape. Designers make it to catch the wind’s force. This helps the whole structure spin.
The measurement of wind speed depends on how the impeller spins in the wind. When the wind blows, it pushes the blade of the impeller.
This force makes the impeller spin. As the wind speed goes up, the impeller spins faster. A device inside measures how fast the impeller turns. It then changes this speed into wind speed data for display or recording.
Ultrasonic anemometers work on the idea that wind speed changes how fast ultrasonic waves travel in the air. They usually have two pairs of ultrasonic transducers that send and receive these signals.
A Pitot Tube Anemometer is a tool that measures how fast a fluid, like gas, moves. It mainly has a pitot tube and a pressure gauge.
