CDT-19B Turbidity (SS) Sensor

CDT-19B analog turbidity sensor​ is an instrument which uses optical principle to measure the degree of turbidity of water. Suspended particles in water cause turbidity. The suspended particles reflect the incident light. Usually, the scattered light in the direction of 90°is used as the test signal, so the unit tested is called NTU. This method is suitable for testing low to medium range, ranging from 0.01 to 1000NTU.

Application

Water treatment:

◉At the front end of drinking water treatment, turbidity sensors are used to monitor the quality of raw water. Raw water may come from surface water (such as rivers, lakes) or groundwater. For example, when the water source is river water, the analog turbidity sensor can detect the amount of suspended particles in the water in real time.

◉In industrial wastewater treatment plants, analog turbidity sensor​ are important equipment to ensure the discharge of wastewater up to standard. The wastewater discharge standards of different industries have clear requirements for turbidity. For example, the turbidity requirements of the textile printing and dyeing industry wastewater discharge standards are generally lower than 50NTU, and the turbidity requirements of electroplating wastewataer discharge may be more stringent.

 

Environmental monitoring:

◉In the monitoring of natural water bodies such as rivers, lakes and oceans, turbidity is one of the important indicators to measure the health of water ecosystem. The change of turbidity reflects the change of suspended matter content in water, and suspended matter will affect the living environment of aquatic organisms. For example, a water body with high turbidity may reduce the light intensity in the water, affecting the photosynthesis of aquatic plants, which in turn affects the entire food chain.

◉In groundwater monitoring, turbidity sensors, although relatively few applications, are also very important in some cases. For example, when groundwater is affected by infiltration from surface pollution sources, its turbidity may change.

 

Aquaculture:

◉Turbidity is an important water quality parameter in aquaculture. Feed residues, fish excrement, algae blooms, or sediment buildup cause excessive turbidity. When we install turbidity sensors in the breeding ponds, we can monitor the water turbidity in real – time.
