Description

CDG-12B QUANTUM PAR SENSOR

The CDG-12B PAR sensor measures solar radiation in the 400 to 700 nm wavelength range. It is easy to install and works in all weather conditions. When sunlight is present, the silicon photo detector makes a voltage output. This output depends on how bright the light is that hits the sensor.

Its sensitivity depends on the cosine of the angle of the incoming light. Each product has its own sensitivity coefficient. The PAR sensor can directly show the radiation value in μmol/m²*s.

MAINTAIN

Regularly clean the sensor surface with a soft, lint-free cloth to remove dust, dirt, and water stains, ensuring light transmission efficiency.

Avoid scratching or impacting the optical sensing head during operation and maintenance to prevent performance degradation.

Periodically calibrate the sensor with a standard light source to guarantee measurement accuracy and data reliability.

Inspect cables, connectors, and sealing components routinely; replace damaged or aging parts in a timely manner.

Store the sensor in a dry, ventilated, low-dust environment when not in use to avoid moisture corrosion and mold growth.

Prevent long-term exposure to strong corrosive gases, high temperature, or direct intense radiation that may damage internal components.

FAQ

1. Q: What does a PAR quantum sensor measure?

A: It measures photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), the wavelength range of 400–700 nm that plants use for photosynthesis, typically in units of μmol/m²/s.

2. Q: Why is my PAR sensor reading unstable?

A: Common causes include unstable light sources, dust or dirt covering the sensor head, loose cable connections, temperature fluctuations, or the need for recalibration.

3. Q: What output signals are available?

A: 4–20mA, 0–5V, 0–10V RS485 (Modbus-RTU)

4. Q: Can it be used outdoors?

A: Yes. It features a waterproof and dustproof design (usually IP65 or higher), with anti-ultraviolet and weather-resistant housing for long-term outdoor use.

5. Q: Does it have moving parts?

A: No. It uses a solid-state photoelectric or thermopile sensor, making it wear-free, low-maintenance, and highly reliable.

6. Q: What is the operating temperature range?

A: Generally -40°C to +80°C, suitable for most climatic environments worldwide.

7. Q: What are typical applications?

A: Widely used in weather stations, solar photovoltaic power stations, agricultural monitoring, building energy efficiency, environmental monitoring, and scientific research.

8. Q: How do I clean the sensor surface properly?

A: Use a soft, lint-free cloth with mild cleaning solution or distilled water. Do not use abrasive materials or harsh chemicals to avoid scratching the optical diffuser.

9. Q: What is the difference between PAR sensors and normal light meters?

A: Ordinary lux meters measure human visual brightness, while PAR quantum sensors specifically detect photon flux in the 400–700 nm band, making them suitable for plant growth research and lighting control.
