Description

CDF-18A PROPELLER WIND SPEES AND DIRECTION SENSOR

The CDF-18A Propeller Wind Speed And Direction Sensor have a few main parts. These parts are a propeller, a mast, a sensor housing, and an internal sensing mechanism. The propeller is made from lightweight and strong materials, such as aluminum or high-performance plastics. It has blades that are shaped to catch the wind’s energy. This helps the propeller spin with the wind. The mast holds the propeller and keeps it at the right height.

Key Features

Low starting wind speed, sensitive to weak airflows

Helical blade design ensures stable rotation and high linearity

Low inertia, light structure, reduces measurement hysteresis

Compact size, easy to install and integrate into weather stations

Fast response time, accurately captures wind speed fluctuations

FAQ

1. Q: What is the recommended installation height?

A: Install at a height of 4–10 meters above ground, away from buildings, trees, and obstacles to ensure unobstructed wind flow.

2. Q: Does the sensor need to be oriented in a specific direction?

A: The wind direction vane must point to true north or magnetic north during installation for accurate azimuth measurement.

3. Q: Can it be mounted on a pole or mast?

A: Yes, it supports standard pole mounting with a pipe clamp. Keep the sensor vertical and stable.

4. Q: Why is the wind speed reading unstable?

A: Possible causes include obstacles nearby, loose propeller, bearing friction, dirt/debris on blades, or electromagnetic interference.

5. Q: What is the measurement range?

A: Typically 0–60 m/s for wind speed and 0–360° for wind direction, suitable for most meteorological and industrial applications.

6. Q: Does the propeller rotate freely in light wind?

A: Yes, low starting threshold design allows accurate measurement even in gentle breeze.

7. Q: Can it work in rain, snow, or high humidity?

A: Yes, with IP65 or higher protection, it operates reliably in outdoor harsh environments.

8. Q: Why does the wind direction show fixed deviation?

A: Check if the vane is deformed, the installation north reference is wrong, or the internal magnet/ Hall component is abnormal.

9. Q: How to solve no signal or abnormal data?

A: Check wiring connection, power supply voltage, cable damage, grounding, and communication parameters (baud rate, address).
